GUYANA | The #1 Country to Add to Your Bucket List | Episode 1 | Dylan Efron
Where the f*** is Guyana... like you, I had no idea. I couldn't find very much info online when we started planning this trip, but that's kinda what drew me in. In this series, we explore the hidden gems of Guyana, from the pristine rainforests in the north to the red dirt savannahs in the south.
Stay tuned for Episode 2 where we leave Paruima and begin our 4 night trek through the jungle to one of the most remote waterfalls in Guyana.
I never expected to fall in love with this place like I did. It's truly raw and untouched nature like I've never seen before--made possible by the indigenous who are deeply connected to sustainability and preservation of the rainforests they've called home for centuries.
Hope you enjoy 🤟🏼

1763 Monument:
THE 1763 MONUMENT PROUDLY STANDS in the Square of the Revolution in the Guyanese capital of Georgetown. Unveiled in 1976, it commemorates the Berbice Slave Rebellion of 1763, a major event in Guyana’s anti-colonial struggles.
On February 23, 1763, a slave revolt broke out in the Dutch colony of Berbice in what is now Guyana. At the time, the colony consisted of approximately 350 white colonists, 250 enslaved indigenous people, and almost 4,000 black enslaved people. Should a rebellion gain any traction, the colonial rulers would therefore find themselves in no small amount of trouble. And that’s exactly what happened.

Guyana, nestled on the northern coast of South America, is a hidden gem for travelers seeking unspoiled natural beauty and diverse cultural experiences. The country's top attractions offer a captivating blend of pristine landscapes, rich wildlife, and vibrant cultural heritage.
Kaieteur Falls, one of the world's most powerful waterfalls, stands as the crown jewel of Guyana's natural wonders. Located in Kaieteur National Park, this awe-inspiring cascade plunges 741 feet into the Potaro River, surrounded by lush rainforest. The sheer force and majesty of Kaieteur Falls make it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
For those with an interest in wildlife, the Iwokrama Rainforest is a biodiversity hotspot that showcases the rich flora and fauna of Guyana. Spanning over one million acres, the rainforest is a haven for exotic species like jaguars, harpy eagles, and the elusive giant river otter. Visitors can explore the forest through hiking trails, canopy walks, and boat trips, immersing themselves in the untouched beauty of Guyana's interior.
The historic capital city, Georgetown, is a vibrant blend of colonial architecture and multicultural influences. St. George's Cathedral, one of the world's tallest wooden buildings, stands as an architectural marvel, while Stabroek Market buzzes with activity, offering a glimpse into the daily life of locals. The city's diverse population is reflected in its culinary scene, where visitors can savor a fusion of Indian, African, and Caribbean flavors.
Guyana's coastal areas are dotted with stunning natural reserves, such as the Shell Beach, where endangered sea turtles come to nest. The vast savannahs of the Rupununi region provide a unique landscape for exploration, with opportunities for birdwatching, wildlife spotting, and interactions with indigenous communities.
Adventure seekers can embark on a journey to Mount Roraima, a towering tabletop mountain that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World." The trek to the summit offers a surreal experience, as hikers traverse otherworldly landscapes, encounter unique flora, and witness breathtaking vistas from the top.
Guyana's commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism is evident in places like the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. Situated in the heart of the rainforest, this suspended bridge provides a bird's-eye view of the forest canopy, allowing visitors to appreciate the biodiversity while minimizing their ecological impact.
Guyana's top attractions encompass a diverse range of natural wonders and cultural treasures. Whether exploring the powerful Kaieteur Falls, delving into the heart of the rainforest, or immersing oneself in the vibrant city life of Georgetown, Guyana offers a captivating blend of adventure and serenity for intrepid travelers.
